SPC (stone plastic composite) and WPC (wood plastic composite) are both rigid-core vinyl, which makes them more dent-resistant and better at hiding a slightly uneven subfloor. Standard flexible LVP/LVT is thinner and easier to fit into tight spots, but softer underfoot. SPC is generally the toughest of the three.
The SPC and WPC rigid-core products are waterproof all the way through the plank, not just sealed on top, which is why they're what we recommend for kitchens, bathrooms and basements. Always check the specific product's core type, since not every vinyl product on the market is built the same way.
Some vinyl products are rated for it and some aren't, since heat cycling affects rigid-core planks differently by product. Check the individual product's spec sheet, or ask us during your in-home visit.
Rigid-core SPC and WPC hold up well against claws and spills, and products flagged Pet-friendly in the specs have been tested for scratch resistance specifically. Look for that flag, or ask us to point you to it.
